Before Nintendo, there was pinball. For the next two weekends, Lil’
Ju Ju, a mobile pinball gallery in a vintage Spartan Manor trailer
from the Neptune Beach Amusement Museum in Alameda, will be parked
onsite at Chabot for your pinball enjoyment.
Players may try their skill on six space-themed pinball machines,
dating from 1947 to 1976. Hit various targets, light up the bumpers
and see how many points you can rack up. Fun for the whole family.
(As space is limited inside the trailer, players will be limited to
two plays if there is a line.) Click

Nine
Five Zero, the Photography of Jem Gruber, Joe Bansuelo and Michael
Schiess
Nine Five Zero showcases the work of three East Bay photographers
who use the Nikon 950 Coolpix as their preferred tool. Jem Gruber,
Joe Bansuelo and Michael Schiess have created a smorgasbord of visual
delights using this camera. Once considered cutting edge on the forefront
of digital imaging, it is now relegated to the trash heap of throw
away obsolete technology. Like pinball, we strive to use and preserve
ancient devices and appreciate what can still be gleaned from them.
But, as any photographer will tell you, it isn't’t the camera
that takes good pictures, it’s the person behind it. All that
said, see for yourself.
Show will continue through August 30th. |

Surrounding
the Lucky Ju Ju is the Trans-View Gallery; a down to earth, non-stuffy
Art Gallery where local artists display their work. We change it on
a monthly basis & have openings on the first Friday of every month.
Some work is for sale & NBAM asks for a 10% commission on all
sales. There is no hanging fee or any other charges, we do this because
we like art and want to support the artist in our community. it also
gives you something to look at besides the back of a bunch of pinball
machines.
